About Chris
More than anything else, I want you to know more about my Savior, Jesus Christ! Nothing, and no one, has impacted my life like Jesus. Even through the hardest of times, He has given me the very peace, strength and hope that I needed! I have so much to be thankful for. Jesus truly is my best friend, and I hope He is yours, as well. If you don't know what He has done for you, and how much He can bless your life, I'd count it a privilege to tell you more. Please email me any time!
I was born to Al and Cheryl Rogers in California, and am the eldest of their four children. My love of music began at age nine when I embarked on a 12 years journey of learning. I studied under Sue Downs, Joanne Fumia, Sandy Cyphers, Magdeline Czabaranek, and Dr. Irene Bowling. How I thank them for the encouragement, patience, and inspiration they shared with me!
I have served as a church pianist for over 3 decades and taught private piano lessons for 24 years. Teaching has blessed me with some of my life’s best memories (and some hilarious ones, too!). A big “thank you” to each of my students for being such a special part of my life. I wrapped up my piano studio around 2018 to become a full-time pastor.
In addition to recitals, competitions, adjudications, state conventions, National Guild, and the California Certificate of Merit, I had the privilege of performing “Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor” (1st movement, Tchaikovsky) and “Fantasia” (Beethoven) as a guest soloist with the Solano Community Symphony at the ages of 17 and 19.
I moved with my family to Port Orchard, Washington, at the age of 18. In 2003, the Lord brought Ruth Suko into my life and we were married in 2006. We praise the Lord for how He guided our lives to that point. In 2008 we welcomed our first child, into our home. 18 years later, we have four more siblings for him to enjoy.
I currently serve as lead pastor at Discovery Baptist Church in Gig Harbor, WA. Ruth and the family are actively involved as well. Hobbies include sports, photography, backpacking and hiking, graphic design, and just doing family life with friends! The things we enjoy the most in life include being involved in Christian ministry, making memories with family and friends, and watching others smile and laugh.
Here is the beautiful Lagerquist Hall (Pacific Lutheran University; Tacoma, WA) where I recorded my three albums on one of the best 9-foot Steinways I've ever played.
